        About Janet Broady

Janet was born in London and after studying to be an architectural technician took the decision to specialize in building restoration. A job involving the restoration of some Victorian houses involved a visit to a stained glass studio and from then on she became captivated by the play of light and colour.

In 1979 a 2 week holiday in Spain changed her life and after travels through out the peninsular decided to buy a house and make a home in Cueva del Pájaro, Carboneras, Province of Almería. There, her family planted their roots and with the help of the neighbors began to feel more andaluz than foreigner. At this time she began to study glass and its history.

A course at "la Real Fábrica de cristales de La Granja" (Segovia) was a  defining point and she learnt the antique art of painting on glass. The techniques learnt became the culmination of inspiration that gave a new dimension to her work inspired by an andalucian influence.

A new chapter in her life has seen a return to the UK and the sunny climes of Wiltshire is now her home.

Today her work can be seen in various cities in Spain, England, Ireland and France.

They can be found in private houses, churches, restaurants, hotels and public buildings

“Each work  is a unique piece where I like to leave a little of my personality . I try to fuse the clients desires with the architectural needs  and leave an artistic statement.”
